Adoption in the Classroom & Community

Description: This session will address bringing adoption into the classroom and community. This session will provide information on resources to bridge community and classroom and to help teachers and facilitators address issues specific to adopted children. It will also address transracial issues that could be present in a community and how teachers, facilitators, and families can deal with these specific issues.
Learning Objectives:
1. Session attendees will be able to identify methods and resources necessary in incorporating adoption into the classroom and community.
2. Session attendees will be able to identify transracial issues in a community.
3. Session attendees will be able to compare and contrast methods for addressing transracial issues in a community.
Intended Audience: Mental and behavioral health professionals; adoptive parents
Intended Audience Level: This session is intended for beginning to intermediate level professionals.
Continuing Education (CE) credits for mental health professionals are being offered through Psycho-Educational Resources, Inc. (PER). Participants may earn up to 6 CE credits.
